"In my mind and heart it is not just the sights and museums that capture the essence of a city or village, but rather the life of the cafés. The café is a gathering place, to see and be seen, as well as a refuge where one can be alone without the interruptions and pressures of everyday life. Historically, it is where artists, writers, performers, politicians, traders and the people met and cross fertilized their ideas & schemes and so it is about culture, change, civilization and revolution, as well as coffee, wine and food. What makes café society café society is that it is inclusive—open to all that love the café life. In France, the café is the 'third place,' apart from work and home, where one can put time on hold and just be who you are." Joan Osburn
